The myths, mindsets, misinformation, and misperceptions around Ai within the design community are crippling the entire field's ability to evolve. Arguments about job replacement, originality, synthetic interviews, and Ai biases are irrelevant - if you understand how Ai truly works and how to redline its unprecedented creative horsepower.

We'll fire up the Ai-fueled design rocket ship, coerce some lucky soul in the audience into supplying a new company idea, and then - gasp! - actually do things with Ai, choking out some myths along the way. We'll design a micro experience, using the latest Ai tools to power advanced design techniques. Live, unscripted, and with style.

You don't have to love or even like the idea of Ai to enjoy and find value in this workshop. The goal of this Ai playdate is to help designers make informed decisions about using Ai through actions, not opinions, all the while keeping things interesting by building the rocket ship after liftoff.

The audience will learn...

1. How to cut through the noise and recognize earned insights from flimsy opinionst

2. How to build a complementary relationship that redlines the individual strengths of the designer and the Ai

3. Low effort, high impact best-practices for using Ai that significantly increase quality of results and efficiency of interaction

4. Advanced techniques for Ai-driven tasks, including creation of design-centric GPTs, next-level prompt engineering, LLM mode chaining, and Ai tool chaining

5. Methods for using Ai tools to help with UX research, UX design, UI design, brand design, and hardware design

6.  The foundational cognitive skills needed for long-term success with Ai

For 60 years, the Industrial Designers Society of America has worked to advance the practice of industrial design through education, information, community, and advocacy. Our roots stretch to the beginning of the profession, and our members are, and have been, some of the most celebrated industrial designers of all time. Today, we exist as a global voice for industrial design within a broad ecosystem of design disciplines and we celebrate the cross-functional overlap of many creative fields.
