All endings are also beginnings. This is especially true in a world where the need to transition towards a circular economy is redefining waste as a valuable resource. Design is a critical enabler to open the door to circularity, by designing out waste and keeping products and materials in use for as long as possible. This presentation will introduce five Circular Design Strategies, along with specific examples, to help designers and developers integrate end-of-life disposal and circularity into the design of new products and rethink business models, including circular supply chains, a take-back system and offering product as a service.
