IDC 2018 | New Orleans Recap

New Orleans, LA - Sept 19-22, 2018

IDSA delights in the opportunity to bring together our global community of designers and top creative minds each year. The International Design Conference 2018 was a resounding success and we are grateful that so many of you joined us in New Orleans for this event. Our passion is fueled by all of you and ignited through events like IDC that assemble diverse perspectives to create an unforgettable shared experience.

The IDC 2018 did not disappoint and has raised the bar for what can be expected in years to come. Our host city, New Orleans, LA, was as warm and inviting as ever. This is a place overflowing with vibrancy and home to a deeply resilient community of nearly 400,000 people. NOLA became the perfect backdrop for over 500 cross-disciplinary designers from around the world to come together for three days of insightful presentations, networking, and community-building.

Trying something new

In a departure from IDSA's previous events, IDC 2018 featured emcees instead of a conference chair. Debbie Millman and John Maeda stepped into this new role as co-emcees, taking turns in leading attendees through talks and workshops delivered by some of the brightest minds in industrial design and related fields.

Responding to the prompt, “What do you design for?”, presenters shared their perspectives on topics including Death, Creative Leadership, Diversity, Confrontation, Healthcare, Inclusion, Technology, Climate Change, Dystopia, Empowerment, and much more.
