Land Acknowledgement

The organizers of the International Design Conference acknowledge that the 2023 event takes place on the traditional land of the Lenape (Lenapehoking) who were violently displaced as a result of European settler colonialism over the course of 400 years. The Lenape are a diasporic people that remain closely connected with this land and are its rightful stewards.

We also recognize that New York City has one of the largest urban Native American / Indigenous populations in the United States. This acknowledgement does not take the place of authentic relationships with indigenous communities but serves to remind ourselves that, by being here for our event, we must honor with gratitude the land itself and these Tribes.
