IDSA EDUCATION SYMPOSIUM

September 13-14, 2022

(RE)CONNECT

The academic community invites ALL to come together for an IDSA Education Symposium like no other. We say goodbye to just listening and hello to reconnecting with one another face-to-face. We aim to reintroduce students, faculty, professionals, and industry to the playful spirit of design, by disrupting our mundane (virtual) routines with fun, inspiring, and engaging physical and mental activities. We seek to re-establish genuine friendships and re-energize.

(RE)PLAY

Join us to get inspired through stories and play. We aim to recover and uncover knowledge by embracing and addressing our shortcomings and historical blind spots, such as Diversity, Equity & Inclusion and Sustainability. We will also celebrate what’s gone right to learn how we can continue on this path.

(RE)FUEL

Get invigorated and inspired through hands-on activities, discourse, and place-based interactions connecting the events with the larger environments and the people within.

(RE)FRAME

Focusing on the future, we will investigate and re-envision industrial design and where we should head as a community of practice.

Advancing Design Academia

The Industrial Designers Society of America has a long history and commitment to education and the academic community. In fact, education is one of the four pillars of IDSA’s mission and a key component of our Future Vision moving into the next 50 years of success. We are in the business of educating people about design and creating environments for designers to thrive.

Design education is where creativity and learning are forged to form lifelong habits of acquiring, working with, and transforming knowledge into new ideas and solutions designed to help people live better lives. Design schools, educators, and students are central to this.

For over 20 years, the IDSA Education Symposium has been a platform for celebrating the very best in design academia. It routinely draws design educators, practitioners, and students from all over the world and helps connect our vast community through knowledge sharing and networking opportunities.
